MARINA SIMÕES
Marina is a prolific Film Director with over a decade of experience in commercials. Her academic background in Directing (London Film School) and Psychology of Emotions (ISCTE Lisbon), coupled with the use of precise art direction and inventive storytelling, enables her to surprise audiences with unique perspectives and twists on everyday life.
Marina has won the Léopard De Demain’s Aaton Prize at the 52nd Locarno International Film Festival, the Audiences Award at the Beijing Film Festival and was selected for the Berlinale Talents in 2003. Her film Matches for WWF was shortlisted at Cannes Lions 2008 and two of her films for Amnesty International won Gold Prize at New York Festivals in the same year. Marina has worked with Vodafone, Samsung, 7UP, Renault and Unilever brands. Her strong ties to the UK, New York, Macau, Guinea-Bissau and Lisbon, offer her a sophisticated approach that shows in all of her work.
